The Norwich Fire Department has been providing fire protection services to Norwich, Vermont since 1920. Norwich received a Charter from George the Third of Great Britain, France and Ireland and held its first town meeting in 1761. Interestingly the first town meeting was held in Mansfield, Connecticut. The first town meeting held in Norwich was in 1768.

Norwich is located in the Connecticut River Valley and is bordered on the east by the Connecticut River. Interstate 91 provides easy access to Norwich and from Norwich to other parts of New England.

The Norwich fire department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to Norwich. The members of the department are volunteers who live in Norwich and surrounding communities and give of their time and energy to the department to serve their community.
