Assessor/Listers

The Listers (assessors) are charged by State statute with assessing every property in town at its “fair market value” for the Grand List. The taxes generated for the Town and School budgets are based on the final Total Real Estate Value of the Grand List.

LISTERS’ HOURS

The Norwich Listers’ Office is officially open Monday 8-11 am and Tuesday-Friday 8 am – 12 pm, when Darlene Cook, the Assessing Clerk, will be present. One or more of the Listers are sometimes in during weekday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and on some afternoons, although schedules vary due to outside commitments. Please call 649-1419 ext. 6 or feel free to knock to see if we are in. If anyone is in the office, they will be happy to help you.
